The FIT Skyliners is an acapella group and club formed at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York City. This club was started by Krista Pershinsky, a sophmore at FIT studying Advertising and Marketing Communications.
The club began its journey in the Spring Semester of 2013. In the beginning of the process of establishing this club, the idea must be presented to the FIT Student Council for approval. Afterwards, the club had to get people's interest to join the club. According to Krista, the president of the group, that was the easiest part of the process. Although the university has space, this club required a specific place in order for rehearsals to take place. After searching and compromising with the availability of the university's room scheduling, the club began its rehearsals and started to take flight.
Since the club started, the members have been able to meet and grow beyond their goals. The FIT Skyliners learned four songs within one semester and held a concert at the end of the semester to showcase their music.
